The George P. Sargent Educational Trust Fund was created in 1983 as a National Fund… The fact that most applicants have been from New England is just coincidence… This fund was created in the name of George P. Sargent, AHC because he was heavily involved with education both at the local and national levels. Mr. Sargent was from Maine and started his career in our industry at the tender age of 16, while on a trip to visit his sister in Fitchburg MA.

He never returned to Maine… he worked for Lockwood Mfg, then Shawmut Hardware running their Fitchburg branch and ended his career working for HCI/Craftsman in Nashua NH.

His deep dedication to education convinced Joe Bartoloni, AHC, John Madden, AHC and Harris Parsons, Sr, AHC to start this education fund in his name, thus becoming the first Trustees of the George P. Sargent Educational Fund.
